Built in 1832, The K Club is set on the former site of Straffan House, which was originally modelled after a French chateau by Hugh Barton, the grandson of legendary winemaker Thomas Barton. Converted into a luxury hotel and country club in 1991, the opening of The K Club was a landmark moment int he Irish hospitality industry, creating new standards of Irish décor and service that have not been surpassed.

Boasting 140 bedrooms and suites, accommodation at The K Club is sumptuous and truly luxurious. Each room has been individually designed and features original paintings, antiques and hand painted murals.

The K Club has four on-site restaurants, a luxurious 20,000 sq/ft spa, and two championship Arnorld Palmer designed Golf Courses:

Palmer Golf Course

If ever a golf course reflected the personality of its architect, it is surely this Arnold Palmer designed course. As Ireland’s first Ryder Cup Venue, this is not an ordinary course. This had been called one of Europe’s most spectacular courses, charming, enticing and able to bring out the best in one’s game.

Smurfit Golf Course

Created in 2003, The Smurfit Course has been described as the greatest inland links golf course in Ireland. The philosophy in developing the course was to ensure that there is a distinct contrast in golfing difficulty and experience between the existing Palmer Ryder Cup Course and the Smurfit Course.

The K Club also offers a host of activities including horse riding, falconry, clay-pigeon shooting, fishing, wine cellar tours and much more.

Located in the quaint village of Straffan, County Kildare, and only 30 minutes from both Dublin City Centre and Dublin international Airport, The K Club enjoys a tranquil location but is within easy reach of the country’s capital. It is the perfect spot to enjoy all the wonders of Ireland’s Ancient East or top treat yourself to a luxurious county retreat.
