Home to the Museum of Style Icons one of the most unique collections of fashion and cinema memorabilia in the world and now officially Ireland’s fifth most visited free tourist attraction the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre has something on offer for all ages.

Since 1934 Newbridge Silverware has been designing and manufacturing quality giftware at its site in Newbridge Co. Kildare. Today the company continues to boast a team of craftsmen each with a lifetime`s experience who fashion the finest cutlery as well as jewellery giftware and homewares. The evolution of Newbridge Silverware from a cutlery manufacturer to a premier name in the design and manufacture of quality jewellery cutlery and giftware products is indeed remarkable and today the company is widely regarded as Ireland’s premier giftware brand.
Newbridge Silverware also remains true to its roots and is proud to be Europe’s only surviving fully integrated cutlery manufacturing plant of its kind.

The Museum of Style Icons

Located in the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre the Museum of Style Icons boasts a world-class collection of some of the greatest style and cinema memorabilia ever to exist. The collection includes garments worn by Marilyn Monroe Princess Diana Elizabeth Taylor Audrey Hepburn Barbra Streisand Tippi Hedren Ingrid Bergman The Beatles Michael Jackson and so much more.

The many highlights of the collection included the largest known collection of Audrey Hepburn garments in the world the only known garment to exist.

The collection includes garments worn by Marilyn Monroe Princess Diana Elizabeth Taylor Audrey Hepburn Barbra Streisand Tippi Hedren Ingrid Bergman The Beatles Michael Jackson and so much more. The many highlights of the collection included the largest known collection of Audrey Hepburn garments in the world the only known garment to exist that was worn by Greta Garbo in one of her 33 films and the only two garments that were owned by Princess Grace and are now on display outside of the Palace of Monaco. Other key iconic pieces include a two-piece costume of orange wool worn by Barbra Streisand in “Funny Girl” a Balenciaga couture gown created for Ava Gardner and a Catherine Walker dress with matching bolero which were designed for Princess Diana.

This unique collection welcomes over 350000 visitors each year is open seven days a week and is free to the public.

In addition to the staggering permanent collection the Museum of Style Icons often showcases visiting exhibitions and has previously hosted a collection of dresses from the wardrobe of Elizabeth Taylor and garments designed by William Travilla who dressed Marilyn Monroe on and off the screen for much of the 1950s.

The Newbridge Silverware Showrooms

The Newbridge Silverware Showrooms located at the company’s headquarters in Newbridge boasts a stunning setting and showcases the complete and extensive product range including giftware jewellery and cutlery which are made on-site by the company’s craftsmen. The Showrooms also boasts a number of exclusive ranges which are not available anywhere else in Ireland.

Just as Newbridge Silverware has been committed to developing and innovating in design and product ranges the company has equally committed to provide the best retail experience when it comes to the Showrooms. The Showrooms at the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre owe their creation to the pioneering spirit of the late Mona Doyle the mother of the current CEO Mr. William Doyle.

Recently renovated to celebrate the company’s 80th anniversary the Showrooms combine the heritage and style of the company in one fabulous setting. Shoppers can see first-hand the 80 year history of the brand with historic artefacts photographs and newspaper articles on display. The result creates a dynamic shopping experience where customers can enjoy a Mecca of style ideas for gifts home and of course themselves while knowing that the company has over 80 years of expertise and knowledge.

The Silver Restaurant

The Silver Restaurant at the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre offers a culinary delight for visitors from 9am to 5pm (Mon- Sat) and 11am to 5pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Situated in a bright and atmospheric setting diners are also treated to live music daily with performances from local musicians including pianist Pat McNamara.

For the perfect start to the day the Silver Restaurant offers a delicious breakfast and brunch menu and is the perfect setting for a business breakfast or morning gossip. The breakfast menu is served until 11.45am daily and some highlights include “Scrambled Egg with Smoked Irish Salmon” “Eggs Benedict” and of course the “Classic Full Irish”. For a lighter option or mid-morning snack choose from freshly baked scones or brown bread. In addition to freshly brewed tea and coffee the Silver Restaurant boasts a wide selection of Organic Speciality Teas from Java Republic.
Lunch continues to be a firm favourite at the Silver Restaurant and is served from 12noon until 3.30pm daily. The selection includes a luxury sandwich bar with both hot and cold gourmet options and a mouth-watering hot counter featuring daily specials. There is also a variety of salad specials plus heart-warming soup available. For lunch on the go the Silver Restaurant also offers an impressive take-away range so there’s no excuse to miss lunch.

Afternoon tea is another great dining option at the Silver Restaurant and is a popular choice. Served from 3pm until 5pm from Monday to Friday with full table service available the afternoon tea option is a real treat and comes with a variety of homemade cakes sandwiches wraps and scones.
